    Eric, it's possible your's is bad and stuck at a certain reading, I'd have to look at scans of your car to know. All I know is power is zapped in warm weather when I have a WAI on my car, be it from the IAT pulling timing, the less-dense hot-air, or both. I just use the IAT to see what the temp of the air is going into the motor, and there is a big difference on how you set up your air cleaner in how it affects the temp. I forget the exact increase but it was significant, like 50* F or something.

    My car used to ping in hot summer weather under load and that would pull timing and it would bog down. Running 89 octane was enough to stop that, and no longer required downshifts in town to keep going. It doesn't do that anymore, from either the new O2 sensor (was running too rich), the larger intake manifolds, or that all the gas here is now 89 octane due to the 10% mandatory ethanol they add to the gas. Probably the last one. Still, less hot air means less chance for ping, and more dense air means more power.

      the butt dyno might not pick it up but the IAT is used by the ECM to adjust fueling and spark advance. I can dig up and post the OBD1 tables when i get a chance...

        Yes, having the IAT in a warm spot retards timing as much as 6* on OBD2. I have read about some people turning it into a happy knob you control from in the car, changing the tables to add whatever timing they want, then using a knob to control the "temp" the car sees, thus being about to control your timing on the fly.

          that could be an easy way to retard timing for nitrous...

            Thats only if you are running a lot to begin with... If I go to the strip and plan to run nos and I know my table is too high, I'll retard it and flash the ecm before running... no point in leaving the tables as if they were N/A tables when a partial write only takes me 55 sec.
