They used to run GM racing 12:1 pistons from their catalog but are discontinued. You'll have to go aftermarket. Stock rods are fine unless you wanto spin it faster than 6500rpm. early 327 small journal rods fit this engine after trimming the big end. You could use aftermaket small jurnal 327 5.7in rods and machine them. If you do you'll need to order your pistons to use the small blocks wrist pin. The heads is up to the rule book, but lots of porting using late 3.1, 3.4 iron heads. Theres some iron head guys here that can help you out more than I can.88 Beretta GTU turbo . 90 Black ASC/McLaren TGP, awaiting 4t80. 2003 Grand AM se 3400/4t45 daily grind.

If there are rules then you need to let us know.
If you want a roller cam the easiest piece to work with will be a 3X00 block. It has all the provisions for a roller valvetrain.
If you must keep displacement at 2.8L then a 3100 with a 2.8L crank and pistons will be your ticket. If you can bump the displacement then go with a 3400 block and use a 2.8L crank for a short stroke big bore motor that will rev nice or use the 3.1L/3.4L crank for a little more torque out of the corners.1993 EXT.
