  • 3900 swap questions

hey i was looking in to swaping a 3900 in my Z24 and i was wondering a couple of things
is the timing cover interchangable to the 3400 one ? and i read on v6z24 that sombody here was making a cam to get rid of the vvt is this true ? and is ther only the 3500vvt intake that will change over to the 3900 ?
the reason i am asking about the timing cover is because i think it is said that its thicker than the gen 3 and will hit the frame
thats it for now any help is great
    thanks guys !

You can have Delta cams resize the journals on your current camshaft to properly fit in the 3900 which should allow you to use the conventional timing chain assembly and timing cover. You can only interchange manifold parts between the VVT engines.

Yeah, I think it was just under ~$100 expensive when I was quoted for it by Delta cams, CNCguy actually had it done and mentioned that he would inform them to make sure the forward journal was full width at the outer perimeter edge and not slightly tapered due to the front bearing design in the 3900.
