  • Swapping from DBW to Cable

So how much effort would it take to switch from drive by wire to a cable driven tb on the same car that originally cam with DBW and does not have an older PCM that was cable driven...exp the 04 GTO was cable, the 05-06 was DBW...so you could use an older PCM due to the same architecture. I want to see if i can put a cable TB from TCE on an 06 Bu SS with teh 3900 drive by wire setup...which can kiss my galapagos seriously. this DBW sucks so bad, it hurts the entire perf of the car. i have tried to tune some of it out, but it just wont work...could it be done just by cutting the wires and getting plugs and plugging in the new TB with the correct wires for IAC and TPS?

Nope. Gonna need the older ECM. DBW intergrates IAC, Cruise, traction control, etc into one unit.

well not so much all of that...just IAC, TPS...for traction, it will handle it a few ways, either with TP or sometimes with what gm used to do, spark and fuel management. but i have eliminated the spark abuse, TQ abuse, and all that other good stuff anyway. and i can prob hook up a normal cruise feature to it with a cruise module like off an earlier car. that was about the only thing i didnt think of yet, but it could be at least tried...i can make plug in harnesses and put stuff on there to see if itll work, if not then im not out a cut wire harness
