I was just wondering if these ported 3.1 manifolds would be much of an improvement over the stock poor flow set up. with stock engine and modded air filter box (still cold air factory set up). i was also considering removing the catalyst too. Does any one know what kind of gains if any these ported intake manifolds would give. as i dont want to do the 3400 top end swap?

The ported intake would encourage better flow, delivering more HP. I would remove your catalyst, but replace it with an after-market "high-flow" unit. The entry and exit portions of the higher flowing cat are a gradual increase and decrease of the pipe diameter, also less catalyst material for the exhaust to pass through. They don't last as long as factory units.
Is this your daily driver? What is your budget/experiance?

Yes this is my daily driver, and i am fairly experienced with cars and engines and engine building. My budget is fairly small but when i buy a new vehicle then i will be doing more. also i was thinking of going to the junk yard and pick up a set of 3.1 intake manifolds and dremel porting them to try to gain a bit more top end power.Last edited by asustek; 07-08-2008, 11:08 PM.
