Right now on my motor i have a mild internal setup with the Crane 2030, Crane matching springs, and 1.52 Comp rockers. Once i do the the Gen3 topend, i want to change things up. Since i will be having a fully ported 3400 topend and headers, i want some more cam to get use of that air. Computer tuning isnt an issue as a note. I want to run the Crane 272 with a set of Comp 1.6 rockers. For the springs i wanted to run the LS1 or LS6 springs. I just need to know if the LS1 springs would work. Lift with the 272 with 1.5s is 454/480, so with the 1.6s it would be up near 500. Anyone seem to think this would be a bit much for the motor setup i mentioned? Also, if the LS1s will work, can someone please hook me up with a Partnumber for them either through Comp or Crane? Im not having too much luck searching for that on my own. Thanks.

Well Colin used them because they provide more lift. Cranes springs will also allow more lift. I am not sure on the max lift a 3x00 spring will allow.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

It does mean something. It means it'll work, lol. My pistons are dished so i have a little more room than you do. Only other thing i could think of are the heads being different between your Gen1 and the Gen3 id be using. Which springs are you using on yours?

Marty and I were talking about this the one day...
i dont know if anything over .500 lift will be ok for coil bind.
with the LS1 springs on the GEN3 660 heads they get installed just a bit shorter than stock. (nothing extreme) so right there they're already having less coil to coil clearance.
i just dont know how much lift you could run with those before they bind up.
Stock 98 LS1 Fbodies used to have a .49X (cant remeber specific) valve lift.
i dont remember what year it iwas but GM lessened the stock cam lift at one point to around .450-.460ish numbers.
LS6 camshafts put the valve lift at .550 lift.
if anything you might want to look into the LS6 possibly.Colin

Yea, i actually was talking to one of the guys over at Crane about this too. Stock LS1 wont work since they are good to something around .500. The guy said he had another LT1/LS1/LS6 spring that was good to around .570 lift. Unfortunately the PN he gave me isnt working on the website On Monday im going to call them back up and say i need the PN. What do i need to worry about with a spring thats good for more lift than what i need. Like for example, i need something that will be ok up to .520 lift, if they say they have a spring for up to .600 lift, can i use that? And any idea with the valve-piston clearance?
