whats the difference between using a standard 3100 manifold, and using this manifold? and do you think this manifold can be port matched.

Whar year 3100? 3100s berfore 2000 had small ports and 2000 on up have the same large ports as the 3400s do. I think that you can get all of the performance that you'll want with either the late model 3100/3400 UIM & LIM, or the 3500 UIM & LIM combos. The 3500 combo ported and polished is where the real perfomance is made.

I have a 1996 3100, and I am planning to get the 3100 UIM/LIM Combo from WOT-TECH. and eventually the ported head set too..

WTF. that manifold is off of some other engine, not a 60*... Looks like a 3.5l DOHC of 3.8 or some other engine.

Yeah, that looks like a 3800 plenum, which will in no way fit our engines.

Yeah, sorry dude. Looks like a 3.8 UIM. If you want to go intake performance wise, that is basically bolt up, get some 3.4 UIM and LIM. Being a 96 I believe you have the roller rocker heads so you shouldn't have to grind out the LIM like those with the stamp steel ones do.

If you look at the list of applications for that intake, it says it will fit a 3.1 liter engine.. You guys know more about this than I do, but thats the only thing that got my interest, that it said it would fit the 3.1.

Yeah the site has no idea what they are talking about, or the image/etc is wrong. No way it would fit... LOL Like trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

make sure you get the 3400 set from the store... the ported 3100 set is NOT what you want. Ported 3400 set.

The only thing you'll notice is that the intake port on the heads will look smaller compared the the 3400 gasket kit you'll use. You might have to grind some tabs on the gaskets, but go easy enough and that's doo-able.

You have two choices of 3400 intakes. I used intakes from a 1997 Chevy Venture van. That allowed me to use the same EGR set-up, as my car is a 99.

If you choose the newer model intakes, like in the WOT store, you'll simply purchase an adaptor plate, allowing your EGR to bolt up to the plenum. It just bolts up different on the newer style.

Now my intakes went on my 3100 just fine. The 56mm throttlebody is standard for the 3400, so you'll have that upgraded from your 3100's 52mm.

The only area to be careful in is the fuel rail, but I assume you have enough experiance to use all precautions.

Make sure you have roller rockers. Some 96 dont, but I think all 96 heads have notches to swap to them. Non-rollers don't clear the 3400 LIM without grinding it.
