well guys, im constantly asking questions about difference stuff for the build, so im just going to make my own little build thread to keep it all in 1 place.
it will be a few months befor its done. due to money and what not, and fixing the other z24 up as a dd untill mines back on the road. but im starting now, and wont stop untill its done..
lets start from the begining so noones behind, built the hybrid when my water pump locked up on the origional 3.1, drove the car home with the temp hand bottomed out for about 15 minutes, heads were gone. so i built the hybrid with free parts from my uncles lumina that broke a cam.
everything was fine and dandy, running GREAT untill my grandpa was run out of the road by a stupid honda. there wa about a 5 inch drop where rain water took all the gravil/dirt away from the side of the road. long story short, smashed the oil pan, and somehow, it spun a rod bearing. changed the bearings, had the rod checked, looked asif just the bearing screwed up, and the car was shut off IMMEDIATLY so i figured maybe it would fix it NOPE. was quiet as hell, ran like a champ for about 30 minute then. knock knock knock. so cars sittin in the yard with the hood on backwards and the motors in the building on a motor stand. metal through out the oil pan, in the oil pump screen, in the oil filter. so shes gettin a complet rebuild
local engine shops giving me a GREAT deal. 400 bucks to hottank, new freeze plugs, new rings, checking all the rods, new crank and bearings, new cam bearings, i buy the cam, hone it, and new tc set.
I'm getting Ben to get me a cam around the 260 grind, some ls6 or whatever yellow springs, im going to get my heads ported since the lim/uim is already ported. and im going to get this thing back on the road!
