IIRC midnight ported his out to 75mm cause the 4.3 tb he got was a bored out "race" version anyways. You should be able to bore it out that far, but there's a lot of work boring it out down in the neck area. You can tune for it but the TB will be very touchy and go WOT before the plate is fully open. It won't have very good "road manners", but in a modified vehicle who cares as long as it's not a daily driver or anything I guess.

Im not worried about it bein touchy and all that, it's only gonna be a weekend joyrider/track car anyways!
Once I get everything done and swapped in Im gonna need Ben to reburn the chip I got from him awhile ago anyways!!
I still have my original 60* chip in my computer for the stock 3.1L!

No, Dave's is a northstar, 75mm stock. I was talking about midnightriderz24's 4.3l TB when he had the 3500 plenum. IIRC he got a 4.3L one off ebay that was a performance bored out version. Stock 4.3l is 70mmsigpic New 2010 project (click image)

Sure, but I would have to do it first to know what I would charge. Its 66mm stock and I can only blend in a short distance on the manifold so probably 20-25 as a guess right now.
I don't know what kind of reburn I can do for what you are building. Sounds like custom tune territory to me.Ben

Would it be possible for me to just send you my 3500 plenum and the TB and then you can just put the adapter on and port match everything, then figure out a price for everything once you're done? I would also want you to port the whole thing out as well....

If going boost why not just use a 3400 TB? Turbo with a smaller TB isn't that bad compared to something like a roots style blower where the TB can be a restriction where the S/C is trying to breathe in air through it. Like if your charge pipe outlet on the turbo is 2", well 56mm TB is 2.2" so I don't see a restriction really...Last edited by IsaacHayes; 04-06-2008, 03:44 PM.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

it's not about upgrading for the sake of upgrading.. you upgrade the TB to deliver the ammount of air your engine needs. I changed mine from 65mm to 75mm because at WOT i was still pulling vacuum and only hitting 90-95% MAP.

You are going to run 3" charge piping from the turbo and intercooler ??? That's not needed...sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

g-u-not..... do some research man!
i can help ya. if u want.
u dont need anything bigger than stock size tb on ur engine. piping shouldnt be any more than needed...so 2.25 would be more than enough. bigger sint always better.
remember when air flows into a space with volume, speed decreases, pressure rises as toes temp.....thats what a plenum does, essentially your 3 inch charge pipe will reduce your imediate boost, raise your intake temps and have more posibilities of popping off under boost.3500, 1280 cam and PR, ls6 valve springs, port and polished heads, ported lim, ported uim, 4.3 70mm tb, ported trueleo headers and y pipe ALL FOR SALE (minus the car)
