crane 272. good power, great economy and sounds like a lumpy cam. easy fo tuning
how are going about the 4.3 setup? just using the 4.3 tb with injector? most of the 90 degree v6 parts are not interchangable. are you fabricating?3500, 1280 cam and PR, ls6 valve springs, port and polished heads, ported lim, ported uim, 4.3 70mm tb, ported trueleo headers and y pipe ALL FOR SALE (minus the car)

the 272 is a bit agressive for a daily driver, the H260-2 from Crane is a very nice cam for a DD and easy to tune for.

Yea the 272 does not have the Idle quality of the 260 but it will make more top end power. John over on S-series used 272 in his 3.1L build and he really liked it.
Go with either the 260 or 272 cam just decide what suits your needs and application.1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma

yes im just using the 4.3 tb and injetors bolts right in but the intake needs to be bored like 923.46v mentioned.
i dont know to much about cam numbers, 260, 272 are duration #s right. what are the pros and cons of both? why is the 272 too agressive for DD.s10s ive owned

both the H260-2 and the H272-2 are Crane cams, the 272 has a bit more valve overlap which causes a nice lopey idle and lower than normal idle vacuum which can effect the power assist brakes. It's not extreme by any means and you certainly could daily drive it with a bumped up idle speed (around 950-1050 RPM)
If you have an Auto tranny you'll want to pick a different stall converter, something around 2500 should work.. if not the fact that you'll have to bump up the idle for the 272 will cause it to lurch at stoplights and can damage the tranny over time. If you have a 5 speed then you'll be fine.

yes it has a 700r4. what should one expect to pay for a torque converter like the one you mentioned? will the 260 be fine with the stock coveter.
im not even sure what a higher stall coverter does, or what lock-up and non-lockup means.s10s ive owned

I picked up a 2800 stall converter for my old Trans Am for like $100 on ebay a few years ago, it was for a TH400 and brand new. Very nice unit.
here is some stuff on torque converters.. much better than i could explain it.

Hi there!
The 260 is almost identical to the 3.4 crate cam, except the LSA is 112 vs. 107 for the crate cam. The 260 should, on paper, have slightly less peak power but a more broad powerband than the crate cam, and again on paper, should be more friendly to the TBI in stock tune. Either would be a good choice for a driver.1982 Chevrolet S-10 Sport, 2.8V6 TBI

i had my mind set on the crane h-260-2, but i noticed that the GM cam part # 12364059 has the same number. summit sells the crane cam for $205, gmpartsdirect.com sells theirs for $150. whos would you rather buy?
how about valve springs, push rods, timing set. can i use stock replacements or is it really necessary to get crane parts.?s10s ive owned
