  • 3500 swap done!!

Hi all Well i got a 95 corsica that had a 3100 in and now has a 3500 picked it for $600 with 28k miles. I ran in to some problems like the tranny bell housing broke i got three bolts and one dowel pin holding it in place, that just gives me more of a reason to swap in a 5speed man in there "any recommendation on what car to get the tranny from ?" Man all i got to say damn that car is quick as f@ck i only given it 1/4 to 1/2 throttle, my old 3100 would only dream of lighting the tires up from dead stop or anywhere this 3500 will do it anywhere anytime. Currently i am getting ready to repin my cars wiring harness for a 97 PCM hopefully that goes good and smooth, as soon as the weather lets up.

    LOL awesome man

I take you you've seen the OBDII swap how-to on www.bstuff.com? But if you figure out how to do it without swapping harnesses please post the info!!

For trans, you'll need to weld in the mount to the body, and any 93-87 5spd will work from a beretta or caviler or corsica. The later year ones have internal slaves. You want the 282 getrag which I think was only offered in the berettas behind the 3.1's.

Until you swap trans, don't do long one wheel burnouts or you'll blow your trans.

Crazy how just 40hp more makes your car fast huh?

No i have not seen the OBDII swap on that site, i been talking to Ryan at gmtuners on doing my swap. I'll have to check that how to over and see what they got

Yes it's crazy how 40-50hp can make a big diff, just little over 1/4 throttle im at 100mph.

One wheel burnouts my car doesn't know what that is, both my wheels spin together left a nice dual mark out on the street.

You should join on that site. Lots of corsicas and berettas on there. Loner666 is on there, he has a turbo corisca with 3400 and 3500 heads and a cam.

Here is the OBDII how to. It tells you how to do it without swapping interior harness, you just swap the engine one.

What plenum and throttle body are you using?
Are you using the stock exhaust? (if so you are choking the motor, the stock downpipe is 1.65" inside diameter!)

I'm using the 3500 plenum and a 3400 throttle body.

Yes it's the stock downpipe for now, I measured mine when the engine was out it was 2" - 2"1/4 id

Yeah, the flange is big, then you look down in there and it snakes down. It's pathetic! The older 2.0's had a bigger downpipe on the inside!!! Where are 3100_MPFI's pics he has some that show the downpipe..

This is the stock 3100 downpipe in a W-body, which is the larger car. As big as my car is, and as small as yours is, I can't imagin yours being bigger. This one is 1 7/8 ID.

By the way, sounds like you got something pretty special. I can't wait to see pics, and welcome to the board.

Well looks like i was wrong, yea i need to snap some pics. I'm just taking it one step at a time and taking my time so i don't screw anything else up. I'm not in a big hurry to get it done the way gas is going and 70mile round trip to and from work I'll just drive my other car that gets 40mpg for now.

That would be pretty sweet to be the first for a corsica. Thanks
