  • thinking about getting 3500 UIM

my TGP has stock 00+ topend, 62mm tb, I was thinking about getting the ported 3500 upper but my lower is not ported, would it matter?

The 3500 plenum stock was a lot smaller than the 3400 gaskets, than my 3400 lower intake was compared to the gaskets. Meaning to gasket match the 3500 I took more off than I had to on the lower 3400. You could just run it stock and it would be fine, or gasket match it to the 3400. Your lower depending on the quality of the cast may not be that much off from the gasket to affect performance. It was just a few corners where I had to open my lower up.

You want matched, or smaller going to bigger, to avoid the air hitting a lip and causing turbulence.

i dont understand , too confusing.... I want a 3500 UIM but if its not going to work, then screw it. I wanted to get the spacers too but they're for 3400.

Ben now has spacers for the 3500:
ported 3500 heads, LIM, plenum, 28# TB FI's, TCE 65 mm TB, MPR CAI, F&R strut bars, F&R sway bars, Eibach springs, KYB GR2's, TOG headers, hi-flow cat, Borla muffler and tips, LC-1 WBO2, DHP PT

You can go with the ported upper and use a stock lower, but only to the 3400 gasket size. its a slight mismatch as was stated, but its better than leaving it stock because its a worse restriction. Flowbench testing doesn't show the adverse effects of the turbulence mentioned, but it doesn't simulate the pulse eithe, just straight flow. So without confusing you further, get it ported and then have the lower ported someday if you want the most from it.

so use the ported 3500 upper with 3400 spacers? The 3500 intake has to be better than a stock 3100. Im still runing the car off a rough tune and it hasnt been datalogged yet so i want to do more mods. is there vaccum ports on the 3500? Also the manifold from WOT, its ported and ground on the side to fit around the fuel regulator?

Right, you would want the 3400 spacers.

The upper is only ground to clear the FPR as an option. Using the FPR bracket from the wot-tech store means no grinding is necessary when using the spacers. It is ported for the 3400 gasket by default.

Oh and I forgot the vacuum lines. I tap for 1 vacuum line, but if you need the other near the alternator, I can probably set that up as well. I haven't updated the store with all the options, or added them to the site I am working on yet either. Been busy getting the new store software going between porting and other tasks.
