SBC rod modifications

My scat rods came in yesterday and Id like to get things moving along, but I cant find how much they need to be narrowed. Im positive Ive seen the number around here somewhere, but its evading me when Im searching. For some reason I remember the number .822. Im not sure the notches for the bearings need to be reground, but I'll check with some that I have laying around. Another thing, does the block need to be notched for clearance? Again, I can check myself, but asking is easier at the moment!

.940 to .854 thickness. .086 off the big end that has more material.

You can have your bearings narrowed too. Instead of having the notches reground. That's what I did to my Eagle 6" H-beams. Use the chevy bearing and turn the crank to fit.

6'' rods with what crank? damn? offset ground it? how much that cost ya?

This is in a 93/94 3.4 with stock crank. Had to use custom Ross forged nitrous pistons. CR is 9.8 and wrist pin is in the oil ring land. It makes tons of torque. Heads and intake still the choker.

can u not use the (new) factory rod bearings for that rod swap????from the 3.4

The notches in the rods do not lign up correctly with the 3.4 bearings. You have to have new ones machined, find a small journal bearing narrow enough for the crank journal, or machine some sbc bearings to the correct width.
