  • Gen III hydrids, or Full installs in a J

The Domestic Crew 660 site ( http://www.domesticcrew.com/660 ) has been fully overhauled during the last couple weeks. I invite all of you looking at building hybrids regardless of the platform to take a look at our hybrid guide. Most (if not all) of the information in it should apply to any FWD car with a 2.8/3.1. For those with J-bodies, we also have a full Gen III install guide too. If you guys have any questions on Hybrid builds, or Gen III installation, we set up a forum just for that too. Enjoy -Tony

LOL its true though. Goto any professional site and the background is white or a very light colour, close to white.

"I just have to make 1 complaint. BLACK backgrounds are **** for trying to read"

Actually black backgrounds are the way to go. In scientific studies they have found that your eyes can only see light. lol, which would mean, white background/black text is WAY more stress on the eyes to read than the inverse.

The text is easier to read if it is a brighter color than the background. Think about it.

It also depends on your eyes, some people's color calibration is off, I know mine is way off!

If your eyes ever get too stressed from reading the monitor, turn down the brightness and you will see that it is less stressful on your eyes to have the background a darker color.

The reason for professional websites using White, Black, Grey and other dull colors is because, that is what is deemed professional in the bussiness world. If you were to send someone your Resume, printed on black paper with blue text, you would never get the job.

My prefered choice of colors that seem to be the best combo for my eyes is black background, blue foreground. Weird, eh? When I am up late night programming these are the only colors I will set the programming environment to use for text (along with green and grey), MUCH less stressful than White/Black

I'm fired? damn that's cold Ben. I made the background black because I like black. the theory was that content was more important than looks. then that tony fag goes and java's up the place.

WTF are you talking about. EVERYTHING YOU SEE IS LIGHT. Even if it is black you cannot see anything if there is no light. So anything you see is light regardless of colour. Colour is simply the portion (colour) of white light that the object reflects back at you.

So are you saying you would rather have all books printed in white text on black paper?

"So are you saying you would rather have all books printed in white text on black paper?" - I believe that would be a rather hard and expensive printing process.

"EVERYTHING YOU SEE IS LIGHT" - Seal yourself up in a closet with absolutely no light, what do you see? Black. If white text appeared it would be the only thing you see.

If you were in an extemely bright place, just light from everywhere and there was black text, do you think it would be easier on your eyes to read?

I know if I stare at a monitor with a white background and black text my eyes get really messed up after a while. Which is why I prefer the inverse as it is softer on the eyes. (Or Black/Blue)

Have you ever gone outside in the morning and had it be too bright and it hurts your eyes?

Have you ever gone outside at night and have it be too dark, and hurt your eyes?

"So anything you see is light regardless of colour." - Some are much brighter or darker to see though. One is better on your eyes, the darker.

If you want a scientific explanation go to this page and it will back me up 100%.

Here is a part of it :
"The scientific explanation is as follows:
White surfaces reflect about 80% of the light, black 5%.
We take these two percentages, divide 80 by 5 and we get a 16:1 Light Reflectance ratio. The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) in the United States recommends a maximum ratio of 3:1 for a visual task and the adjacent surroundings."

The black text on white actually almost burns into your retinas. Take the black and white test a few pages down from the top to see an example.

Enjoy! Make sure your monitor is up bright enough for the tests on the page.

BTW, I'm not saying white text/black background is the way to go, I'm just saying it is easier on the eyes than the inverse.

                        read this on maddox
"I've chosen a black background for most of my text because it's easier on the eyes than staring at a white screen. Think about it: your monitor is not a piece of paper, no matter how hard you try to make it one. Staring at a white background while you read is like staring at a light bulb (don't believe me? Try turning off the lights next time you use a word processor). Would you stare at a light bulb for hours at a time? Not if you want to keep your vision."

If you were in a totally light absent enviroment and white text appeared you wouldn't see shit. There has to be light from somewhere to see. Your eyes can only see light. Your little ratio about white paper reflecting light too much is bullshit. It all depends on ambient light if there is no light, there is no light reflected back at you. Also for you monitor if it is too harsh than that is why they have contrast, brightness and temperature buttons. USE THEM
