The JBP "stroker" crank is a ground 3500 crank, FYI.

oh really ? so chance's are that it's only ground .125 and that the stroker is not a 3.7 then

It's probably much closer to a rounded 3.7L in the manner that many of GMs engines are rounded up. I know you're tired of hearing it but the more I think about what you are planning the more cost increase I come up with. 3500s are in the sub $500 range at least in the U.S. and your crank work will cost near that, then pistons and rods and balancing and boring. Make sure your math is correct.

oh !! then you guys are lucky i looked around cant even get them around here i got to get them shiped from two province's over at the cost of 1500$+ and thats with out shiping
i would love to get a 3500 block and crank and no man i am not tired of hearing anything that is going to save me from making a mistake i apreciate all of your guys help on this i was looking at a build that a guy did on v6z24 and wanted to do kind of the same i thought that he started with a 3400 but come ti think of it now if he had a 3500 all it would take is .120 over on the crank and you would have a 3621cc motor so i guess i will have to go with a 3500 after all i got a couple more questions
would all the 3400 stuff fit on the 3500 block ? (timing cover, top end,oil pan )
are higher compression pistons avalible of the shelf (hypertec pistons)

There were some custom forged 3500 pistons on Ebay about 4 months ago that I believe no one ever purchased with higher compression but I doubt you can find them now. On the other hand, an offset grind of the crank with metal added to keep the 2.25" crank pin would push the piston up a little further in the bore according to how much clearance you have and increase the compression ratio using the stock parts. Are there no salvagers in your area where you might be able to pick one of these engines up? Another possible option is pushing the bore limits of the 3400 block and dropping in a 3500 rotating assembly, what about buying the go fast components of the engine separately to get you the displacement you need as opposed to the whole thing.

Perhaps if you task those guys with finding you a rebuildable core you can get a much better price than for a running engine.

no there really is not any thing that new in the bone yards around here we still pay up to 1200 $ for a running 3400
what would be the limit of a 3400 for a bore ? i seen that ari motor punched out a 2.8 .100 would that be possible with a 3400 ?and still be safe ?
if i can stroke my crank .120 and bore my pistons .100 it will be close to what i want
but will it be safe and will it work ?

ok, so lets say you get the crank figured out.... what are you gonna do about the block and oil pan? with a 3500 crank swap you will already have to dig into the sides of the block and cut up the oil pan for clearance, now your adding even more stroke.... how weak are you willing to build this setup just to see 3.7 liters?

well i was talking to a guy that has a jbp built stroker and he gave me the messurements for his stroker @ 3.510 witch is .200 over now i am not sure at what had to be clearence or what had to be reinforced
right now i am just trying to figure out some numbers

Those pistons are still there but it appears that they're ment to use 5.7" rods.. the pin diameter is the same as the SBC, and compression height is pretty tall. so for a 3500 you'd have to run 4.3 rods or for a 3400 you'd have to use 327 rods... maybe a combination of both...

I was going to buy them for mine but the additional cost of buying new rods made it not ao appealing..

so in the end is a stroker worth the money i have to put in it ? i can get the crank for 450$ plus shiping there and back !
will i be needing custom pistons ? plus all the machine work to the block because i am sure if you grind off metal in the botom you have to reinforce it on the outside
