will a flat tappet cam fit in a 3400 if you change the timing chain and the lifters ?

but keep in mind just cause you can use a gen 2 cam in a gen 3 block dosent mean you can use a gen 3 cam in a gen 2 block, it will fit and everything but the gen 2 block is missing something that you need to have to run roller lifters... can remember what it was i just remember it didnt work. someone will know.Mr_Efficiency

Roller lifters need something to hold them straight. In the 3x00, there is a lifter retained that bolts to the block. The Gen 2 engines do not have the provisions for this retainer.-Brad-
