  • 3500 build plans

looking into building my bullet proof 3500 now that i have lost another rod in the 3400 i have put together a list of stuff that i will we doing. im trying to find a 3500 locally with the 7484 crank.

the block will get stripped down and bored .020 over for the custom made wisecos i ordered some time back. im going to mate the piston to a set of 4.3l v6 h beam rods and have the big ends of the rods shaved down and the rotating assembly balanced. im looking at getting bens stage 3 turbo cam and the comp cams springs from the store along with the longer pushrods. i was wondering if ill need the bronze gear with that cam? i am going to use a stock set of 3500 heads mated to my 3500 lower and a ported 3400 upper.my only real issue seems to be getting a external crank trigger seeing as the store here on the site is out of stock.

is there any complications with bolting my 3400 front cover to the 3500 block? so i can keep the mounting of the tensioner alternator and powersteering pump the same? what about the bracket for the axle shaft on the rear of the block will it line up? and what about the a/c compressor will it bolt to the 3500 block? i never could line up the bottom bolt on my 05 3400 and i didnt have any issues with that.

the car is a 96 beretta with the following mods..

You don't need the bronze gear for the regrind. TCE is working on the triggers but I am not sure how long until they are finished.

With that turbo & stage 3 cam I would seriously consider porting the heads if I were you.

If you run the 26986 springs you can use the stock valve seats and seals, i almost wish i had gone that route..

Delta Cams recomended Smith Brothers to me for the push rods and they made me a nice hardened set for under $100 for the 3900 regrind.

Ricky, if i was you id get atleast a bigger exhaust housing. I have the same turbo as you (the one you showed me sometime back) and it surges at low RPM, boost faster then a pissed off ape and im not sure if its maxing out or not as i have no gone WOT with it yet..i only have mild port and polish 3500 top with i think the stage 1 turbo cam from here

dont get me wrong its awsome as hell but im thinking of getting a .82AR exhaust to replace the .63AR i have now to combat the surging and get it to spool alittle later into the powerband

How do you get pushrods below jobber? Hook me up.

The stage 1 and 2 cam are designed for the best low end. You have the stage 2 cam (.533 lift).

Assuming you are talking to me, there was no hook-up, I told them Delta Cams referred me and the price was about $100 shipped. I was surprised also since they were hardened but was told they run a hardening process weekly so the time that I ordered them came into play as it was just before they were scheduled for a routine process. Crane Cams wanted more I don't remember how much more but it was enough for me disregard eventhough they are within 170 miles of my home. I didn't mention it here before because I didn't want to affect sales in the store.
