  • Not Crane, but...

Couldn't resist a good deal. Got these for $100. Now I have to spend more money for the adapting studs, but gain adjustability and full roller rocker arms

They are from Summit (1.6 ratio).

Sets me back a little (as far as time) because of clearance, but will be worth it in the end.

Actually 3. The reason they were sold is the guy's pushrod made a dent in one

They look like Crane copies to me, but can take some measurements. What's the measurements on the Crane's?

IIRC Summit also has a set of 1.8's, but $800 is a little out of my price range.

You don't need a ratio that high if you get the extra lift from the cam valve lift is valve lift - no matter how you get there.

There is more to it than that though. A higher ratio rocker doesn't need the pushrod and lifter to travel as far. There are advantages to high and lower ratios.

I agree, but when talking about spending 8x the money for minimal gains is not as crucial in a street driven car. Even still, you have to remeber that a higer ratio rocker will stress the cam more.

The rocker works like a see saw. If one person is real close to the fulcrum of the lever, they need to be much heavier than a person sitting at the far end of the opposite side.

Imagine if one of us even went as far as using some hydraulic-actuated valves in a 660? The Indy cars can't even have a cam anymore due to the high revolutions and huge ratios.

I like the ball shaped "valves" I saw once. Had cutouts for the open events and just spun around.

The body, or the ends of the fulcrum?

fulcrum/body, same thing on these cranes cause they don't stick out at all.

The Summit fulcrums are wider than the bodies.

EDIT: Now I regret not taking measurements. Just kind of set one in place to eye them.
