  • hi! I have alot to learn.

Iv'e ben reacherching how to give my 95 camaro 3.4L a little more spunk, since my motor is the laughing stock of the world of motors. of corse on camaro forums everyone says "don't mess with your motor, just buy a v8!" of corse i would if i could, but i only have enough money to work with what i have. I thought about doing a 3800 swap, until i found out that can be just as much work and money as the v8 swap. then i came across an anarticle about a guy with my motor who did a top end swap with the 3400 intake, heads, and throttle body, and i was impressed. so i googeled "3.4 3400 top end swap" and found this site. your people seem to know what your talking about because i don't, should i go to the junk yard and find a Pontiac with a 3400 motor, take the parts i need, and put them on my car?

Well you can do just that, it is still not a simple swap job. There is quite a few differences you need to be aware of. If you did do the swap by simply bolting the 3400 top end you would find yourself with very high compression and would not be able to run regular gas. So things like that are what you need to research. But there are a couple people with 3400 top ends on their RWD cars and trucks so I will let them chime in with some more info.

It's only like 13:1 SCR with the 3400 heads on the 3.4 pistons... that's Premium fuel range..

you can swap in the pistons from the FWD 3400 and take it down to around 9.5:1. I'd just pick up the whole 3400 so you have all the parts. It's actually a pretty basic engine build and will yeild some nice gains over stock. I'd also suggest adding in a good cam and upgraded valve springs to make the most of the heads. the Crane H260 is a good cam.

when all is said and done you'll be smacking around those 3800 guys.

cool, thats my goal. im a bit nervous when it comes to pistons and stuff. heads and intakes seem eazy, bacause they just bold right on and off, right? but when were talking about the lower end i feel a little over my head, but idk. wouldnt i have to pull the motor if im going that far?
