  • the 3400 to 3100 top end swap section

...it is not up yet. i know it's a no brainer to do, but a few questions...

    1. does the LIM bolt up the same to my 97 3100, using the bolts I have now.

    2. can I use any 1995 to 1999 3400 LIM

    3. is the 2000+ LIM and UIM the same flow wise as the older 3400 stuff

...I just want to get my hands on these parts and do some porting and get them ready to install. I know when I did my gaskets; porting my small port3100 stuff and going 56mm TB seemed to make some difference. I think it's probably worth it to slap on the 3400 stuff.

    1) yes. you have 97 heads so your roller rockers clear it.
    2) yes any 3400 LIM, but the older ones 98 and older are tapped for the threaded coolant quick coupler. Newer are not and need to be tapped if you have the threaded coolant fitting stock, or adapt the new hard pipe section to your hard pipe with a short piece of hose and clamps.
    3) 2000+ UIM has a bit smoother neck on it, flows a little nicer. Different style EGR though so you'll need to grab the 2000+ egr and egr pipe to bolt on.

thanks issac, i feel a little more inclined to go ahead with that stuff since I just opened up my exhaust side with a highflow cat and magnaflow muff.
