tapped the head for the larger sensor

modified fuel lines for fiero connections

notched the decklid with an angle grinder

    tce reluctor wheel, modified

dual plenum with fancy paint....not done yet

    ugly

    what goes here?

its obvious that its not finished yet. still gotta sort some things out. wont be long now tho! really have to get the y pipe welded up, i used flex hose and clamps!
gotta get the alt hooked up, cut the manifold studs, make an intake pipe, sort out the vac lines, test it for leaks, secure wiring from headers, make ac connections, and of course tuning.

That hole in the rear valve cover is for the breather tube. In the W-body (or FWD cars), it has a tube that goes from that hole to the top of the air intake duct.

Here you can see the pipe going into the black air tube, and heading back next to the EGR. That is all that is on that one tube. You could probably just put in a small breather filter in your case.

Guess I am missing something. CCV? Are you talking about the hole in the rear valve cover?

I know there is 2 different lines. The older and newer styles. I will take a pic of the one I have now (which is like 2002 style), and compare it to the one in my sister in laws 3500 Malibu.

So.. mount wise.. anything special need to be done to bolt the 3500 in to the Fiero?

I've been looking for a nice GT for a while now, if i can find one i'd like to put my 3500 in it.

ya, the fiero uses a torque strut that is right where the ac and oil filter adapter are, had to make a mount there. and the fiero has a dog bone mount where the alt was, had to fab a mount from the side of the block to the cradle.
a bunch of coolant re routing. the fiero uses 3 coolant hoses, rad in, rad out and heater core in. so all that had to be blocked off.
the decklid has to be notched
fuel lines have to be re routed
convert the car to dis (7730 ecm is easiest and effective)

Man you didn't waste any time. Guess sleeping in the trunk helped move things along, lol.

I wish I could have just droped the whole motor in, but without a tubular k-member it's nearly impossible to get one in longitudinal f-body (if not impossible).

Looks like you are almost there, can't wait to see the results

Spray some carb cleaner or ether near the suspected leak area and listen to the engine idle is the best way I know.

Vacuum leak? Custom plenum I bet is to blame! If you don't want to spray carb cleaner and have it eat that acrylic paint on the plenum, you can use propane from a gas torch too. Just be careful doing this around hot exhaust manifolds and open sparks hehe. Little bursts at a time in the suspect area. That hole in the valve cover needs fresh filtered air. So a breather there would work and be simple. The other cover uses a PCV and needs vacuum.

That fuel hose you used, just says fuel/emission. It's not carburetor fuel hose is it? If so it's not rated for the high pressures of fuel injection. And I'm not sure those clamps you used were fuel clamps. I'd double up. In fact I'd be scared to use that setup. Don't want fuel leak and a burnt up car!

Dave: Fiero eh? wanting some better traction for that 3500 ? heheh.

well it was pissing fuel outa the rail, but got it all good now. it runs it runs. no vac leaks and it sounds mean as fuck. gotta bad exhaust leak, but i was expecting it. the leak is causing it to run rich as ever. but over all its doing great. revs very fast. those plenums are on the small side so it helps the thing rev fast. im sure my higher rpm numbers wont be as high as they could be with the stock plenum...but torque is more fun in a 2450lb car.
i have the iac feeding into the same chamber that the map, brake booster, fpr, evap and all that runs into...at about 10% throttle it kinda goes flat, give it more and it revs fine. just 10% seems odd. my data logging laptop just crashed. dunno what im gonna do now with that. but i assume its a prob with the vacuum all coming from the same area.

coolant line caps exploding is funny. it makes you think fire really fast when working with a fiero. had a couple nipple caps blow off and scared the shit outa me. but all is well now. ill post a vid in a sec

                          Good job on the install.

If I were you though, I'd throw that plenum in the trash and get a new one. Hell, a 3400 uim would look better than that thing. It just looks like you threw it together with some fiberglass and bondo putty. Please don't take this as a personal attack. You get an A+ for effort. I just think the thing is hideous and in no way an improvement over the stock 3500 intake.

Good luck with everything. I think it's great that more people are swapping in the gen3 660. I'm putting a 3100 in mine in a few months.

no bondo....but yup its thrown together. i like it. i guess i won t know its an improvement over stock till i dyno it, and swap manifolds for the dyno. well see what happens.
