Thanks. What tool do I use to measure preload? Can you explain it again a little more specific. I kinda understand it and yet i'm kinda confused. TIA
Do you think it is possible that after they did their measurements that they got the specs of a stock pushrod? Or is their no way in hell? This I want to know. Thanks

That could happen if the base circle of the cam wasn't changed during the re-grind, but is highly unlikely with lobe modification.

      • Just tell me how much you turn the rocker arm bolt from the point that it is keeping the pushrod in line and the pushrod spins, to having the rocker arm bolt tight.

I need to know for sure. I am going to try and a local friend come out and take the measurements unless i get real specific details on how to.

Tight as in to snug or to where I can't move the bolt with a wrench? You want to know how many turns I can turn it?

            • When I had my regrind, I bought a testing pushrod a couple years later (had run stock pushrods) and I came up with the same stock measurements, oddly enough. Of course, I had other issues after I measured and never ran that engine again. But I thought it was strange as well to come up with the same length.

Of course, I'm Polish, so I probably screwed something up somewhere along the line.

                • IIRC GM adds extra preload stock so you're probably fine... never hurts to measure twice though.

BTW, your machine shop does have access to the stock length of the pushrods. I forget what the program's called but it's got specs for everything for almost all GM's engines. I looked up several things about my 3500 on it.

                  • Yeah, i know they got access. But they said they never looked up the specs of stock when they got the measurements for the chrome moly pushrods.
