Well if the flashing on the 3500 is about half inch wide its forged. Everything I looked up says that all the 60 degree stuff is all nodular iron, but that covered the carb. 2.8l to the 3400. I didn't find anything about the 3500 or newer. But it all said that the nodular cranks can handle about 400 hp in all of these motors, from the carb. 2.8 to the 3400 and they can handle 7000rpm all day long in stock trim and 9000rpm with small journal 327 rods

If you look at GM documentation (which isn't always right, as I have found out on a couple of situations), it never addressed the 3500 crank as FORGED, but rather as STEEL versus cast iron...

To accommodate the new applications, a large-pin crankshaft is added, and it is stiffer than the original crank. The stiffness added by this type of crank improves the stiffness of the engine, resulting in a quieter and smoother engine. This crank is used in all 3500s except those powering the Buick Terraza, which uses a steel crank instead of cast iron.
There is a thread on here somewhere with a discussion between me and Joseph Upson that talks about how it appears more than just the Terraza possibly recieved the steel crank (EDIT: Here it is -> http://www.60degreev6.com/showthread...=terraza+steel). If you look on GMPD, and compare cranks between the Malibu and Terraza for instance, there is a different in price (they don't list PNs anymore... BOO!!!), therefore meaning that there is a definate difference between the 2 cranks.Last edited by bszopi; 12-27-2007, 02:41 PM.-Brad-

GMPD does list part numbers, just add all the stuff you want to look up into your cart and proceed to checkout.. the final listing shows all the part numbers.
