I bought the dampener from Orielly for a 95 Beretta 3100.. and it's like 1mm thinner than the stock 3500 one, still sits pretty tight.

I'm curious to see the quality of the sealed power set... I know now that Cloyes is quite sub par... The GM one that I used and sent out for the deep freeze has been holding up well, I may need to do a new center dampener, but I wont know till I look at it this year. I still haven't touched the car yet.

I've had the pre 99 one in my cavalier for a while 300+ passes (all in the 11's or 12's) and I bought a NAPA brand set.

I will take some pics when I get it, may as well add to archive of timing chains.

Have you inspected the timing set yet?

I thought mine were fine as well till I tore into them.

I wonder what company Napa uses as supply for its sets... if its sealed power then I think that may answer your question Alex.

                    • Nope I haven't checked it but it's not noisy. I don't plan on checking it in the near future also...

Yeah the motor is stock cept cam, valve springs and porting. I even re-used stock head bolts.

I race the car alot, 300 passes is an under-estimate for sure.

                      • Do you put any regular mileage on it? or do you trailer it to the strip and only run it there. Just curious because that will definately change things as well.

                          • Alxsmt did you get your set yet?

I'm tempted to go grab a Napa set just to see what it's made up of... If Mars's is still holding up that well they may be just as good as the GM set since mine is still hanging in there just fine.

Mars, what springs are you currently running? and what are the specs on the 1429 cam?

                              • it's super mild. 210/214 @ 0.050 and .510 lift on both. Yeah the car has a rough life and it's been very reliable as far as the motor goes. Transmissions though, different story...
