I wouldn't think so (regarding electric pump)
The GM service manual shows you can have a max of 1/4" play at a certain point. If noone has the exact spec, I'll look for it and get a scan.Brian

The blanks are at the gear cutters now. He said it would be a couple of weeks then they go to heat treat and to EDM.
No special cover or electric water pump. The DR set will fit under the stock cover with little or no grinding. The oil galley plugs have to be shortened so they don't stick out of the block. Most everything else should clear.MinusOne - 3100 - 4T60E

I went with the older style on mine, I had a spare from a '99 so I went with that. The newer thin style though, according to GM was made from a stronger material. I have quite a lot of mileage on the engine and since my last teardown just to do a visual inspection it was just fine. However hey i'm my '89 Z its very easy to re&re

Actually taking out the spark plugs and turning the engine over with a ratchet you can tell if it has slack by listening closely. If it snaps when you first start turning then you know.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

unless the chain is prestreched, all timing chains will stretch. the question is how much more will it stretch? measure it now, then check it again when you tear it down again. that will tell ya if it's wearing fast or normal wear.Andy
