  • Converting Gen1 to DIS for a hybrid build.

To make life easier for people to convert a Gen1 motor (2.8/3.1) to DIS, the harmonic dampener and stock pulley could be ditched. Then use a FWD pulley that has a dampener built in, and a DIS wheel could be fabricated to go in place of the damepner.

This would eliminate the need to shim out accessories.

Whatcha think? This would be an easy alternative to some of the other methods of getting a crank signal to the ECM.

I could make some up at the shop, and could even use a stock position sensor.

    I thought you had a 3.4 block?

but i guess for anyone with a 2.8/3.1 block you could use the whole FWD setup and buy the TCE external trigger.. radiator hose routing would be interresting...

Yes, I have a 3.4, but not everybody doing a hybrid has the ability to get one I'm thinking a reluctor could replace the dampener, and the FWD pulley/dampener part could be bolted to the front of a 2.8/3.1 crank.
