I have a set of sbc rods i heard you can swap them out in a 3400. Are these rods stronger then the stock and how much work will it take to make them fit?

You have to narrow the big end and bush the small end or get pistons made for smallblock pins.
In no way is it worth it for anything under 300HP. Start to go higher than that and combined it with boost and then start thinking about it. only the small journal rods will work, not sure if you knew that or not

If you a set of factory small journal rods, get 327 rods there stronger than most 283. the early 283 rods(1957-1961) aren't as good but the later 283 used the same rods as the 327, 1962-1967. I have 2 sets of stock 327 rods they are in good shape just need resizing and new bolts, which doesn't a whole lot. just let me know if any one wants a set68 El camino 454 speed muncie 3.90 posi 12 bolt,
