This is on a 3400, and no it was not reverse thread. I dont see why the 3500 would be either.

I just had someone hold the fly wheel with a screw driver and then put a breaker bar on my socket and unscrewed it. Make sure to use a torq wrench when you tighten it back up.

Thanks Guys........I took some pics today of the teardown clean up....thought I might share......man ......bad gas is horrible on a piston...this motor was clean on the valve covers but check out the debris on the pistons!!

Not sure if it's bad gas. The 3500 I just dissasembled today looked the same. Amazed at the carbon build-up in the cylinders. I'll post some pics when I get them uploaded later.

3400 running really really lean due to zspec no added fuel tune burned off all the carbon like a self cleaning oven? LOL

Crank looked perfect (grinding hatches still on the journals), bearing looked brand-new, little scuffing on the piston skirts, walls looked a little glazed, but hatches were very apperent.

And yet another dig from Mr. Hayes.................when will it fianally end.......who knows....maybe never............

You have to admit Mr. Hayes.....this is excessive carbon build up for 22K.....can you put the knife down long enough to admit that?

I know how you feel. you just need to stab back now and again, lol.

But yes, it is excessive. And it's odd that it's in both motors from All-Pro. I have another 3500 comming this week from another supplier, and I'm curious to see how that one looks.

I wonder it they are storing their motors outside.

On several low mileage 3500 heads that I have had, there was quite a bit of carbon build up in the combustion chambers.

Makes me wonder is GM's fueling is extremely rich on the 3500 engines?

                        zofo61 Just ribbing ya man.

True that is pretty nasty. From looking into my motor through the spark plug holes it's not spotless but it sure doesn't look like someone cleaned their BBQ grill over the pistons.

onefastv6: Perhaps.. seems to be a pattern emerging.
