Could someone post some detailed pictures of the 3500 plenum showing all the stuuf cut or grounded off thats not needed and where the extra vacume nipples can go?. I am going to start on it next weekend. I want to make sure I done take anything off that might be needed for the 3400 stuff to bolt to or whatever. Iam definatly going to remove the EGR . The two front tabs puzzle me cause I dont remember anything bolted to them...are they for the engine cover? Anyway .......any pics or info will be appreciated.

The 3500 does not use the crossover. The front pipe goes down through where the W-body 3100 motor mount goes, and meets up with the rear downpipe behind the engine. I got pics somewhere.

The 3500 plenum front tabs are for a wiring harness to snap onto. I thought Monte's used those... On mine I took off the front tabs, and the side tab by the alternator cause my car doesn't need them. You can also take off the square on the right side by the TB neck. The EGR you can just bolt a flat piece of sheet metal between it and the EGR or some 1/8" or so aluminum and remove the EGR and delete all the codes with DHP. You can then use the EGR plate and drill a hole and install a vacuum nipple if you wish.

Take the IAC/EVAP thing off and use a 1/4" NPT tap and put a barbed fitting there. I ran this to my FPR (and vacuum ball). I'll get pics in a second. The MAP you splice in to your harness. There is another vacuum port by the brake booster port, it may or may not be installed with a nipple though. Mine was and I used this for my vacuum cruise control. You could use that for the vacuum ball and the other one for the FPR if you wanted. That's about it really.

The way I routed my vacuum lines it all looks factory. One picture shows it before I put a 90* elbow on the FPR.

What I meant with the 3500 not getting a crossover, is the MALIBU does not get one. I have not looked at any other car. Most people are getting their 3500's from Malibu's.

I got those pics somewhere. Need to find them. I have not seen the Impala engine, so I have no clue what is in there. If I get the chance, I will get some pics of an impala engine.

Ask and ye shall receive. I took these pics on my brothers wife's car.

Front of the engine. You can see the starter and oil filter.

Back of the transmission where they meet up BEHIND the subframe. The subframe has a U in it for it to pass under. You can just see the tranny pan on the left side of the pic.

Better shot of the Y-pipe after where it connects behind the subframe heading towards the rear of the car.

If you need any malibu specific pictures, let me know, and whenever I see them, I will get some more.

the 05 impala uses log style manifolds like the older engines but they have the 3500 inner dimensions so they should flow a lot better than the old 3100 and older 3400 log manifolds

i believe the SUV's and vans all use the crossover style logs aswell

Thanks for the pics of the exhaust...I wanted to see the way they didit now I just dont know if the Monte Setup will fit that. The 05 Impala with crossover seems to be a better fit due to diameter.....duuno........great to "see" my options thats for sure.....Thanks!

Any tricks to removing the timing(Cam) gear bolt. Is it a reverse thread. It didnt loosen at first try and I dont want to screw it up.

I just took it off with an impact, its too hard to try and hold to break it loose.
