  • X pipe

Do X pipes or balance tubes help the v6? Since exhaust pulse is even I wasn't sure.

If you're going to run true duals, then yes.

X pipes have been proven to gain a slight HP edge over straight duals.

I would think any motor in "V" form, would befite from duals

key thing though is you have to run true duals, which isnt possible in most of our cars and even if it is, most of the time there isnt enough room to run an x pipe unless its a really tight x

what kind of car do you have?

I didn't want to say anything about fitment,

I know the Alero OSV has/had true duals 2" i think.

Both pipes ran in the same channel toward the back of the car. I doubt there is room for an x pipe in there

meh, easiest way is with oval pipe... again, not nearly enough room for duals...

The Alero only has 1 exhaust pipe, it goes into a transverse muffler and has dual exits.

              ^^ I didn't say the Alero

I was talking about the Alero OSV which was a special Alero that was never made. It was suppoed to be made in 2001 to compete with cars like the SE-R Altima and such.

It was a true dual car, also it would have had the 3500 motor with a 5 speed manual. The next step down was the red one that you may still find on the internet somewhere. It was going to be a 2.4 twin cam, s/c, 5 speed with 245hp.

I've seen the Green one (the 3500 car) once, GM crushed it and it was the only one made. The 2.4 Ruby one, GM made 2 (or 3) of them. There is only 1 left and it has a legal VIN!! It wasn't at Lasning last year. 2 years ago the Alero Convertible was there. It is/was the only Alero Convertible ever made, this car too has a legal VIN, however it wasn't reinforced like it should be (as far as I know) and nobody knows what happened to it.

              (rant time)

GM had to announce the end of Oldsmobile before these car were to go into production. If these car were to start being made, Olds NEVER would have gone under. GM was succefull in closing Olds after 25 years of trying.

There was also going to be a Intrege (sp) OSV and a Sillioette OSV and an Alero 442, and an Intrege 442. Seen the Intrege 442 in person. DOHC with I think a 3.5 putting out I think over 300 HP and the Alero 442, was going to be a V8 (don't know which V8 though)

              (OK rant ended)

GM has been doing this to everyone. They make mouthwatering concept cars that people want to buy and then destroy them. The Grand Am community has suffered through ~5 amazing concepts over the years as well.

its worth noting that none of the concepts with the "3500" (malibu cruiser, osv and so on) never had a true 3500, they had a bored out 3400

If us Jbody guys can run true duals on these tiny ass things.. then anybody should be able to. Just run them side by side down the tunnel.

I almost did true duals on my car but it was cheaper to do single 3" and it flowed plenty for what i needed.

                          This is true.

The new LS2 Camaro is supposed to run 11.31 in the 1/4 mile, but somehow I doubt that will happen

If 2 2.5 inch pipes fit under a lowered chevette with no clearence issues I couldent see any other car have much problem..

i know my malibu wont fit round 2.5's without them being actually mounted to each other (they have to touch) and even then theres no room for a cat that way and deffinetly not an o2 sensor, hell, to fit my exhaust the way it is (2.5 through the cat and muffler to a Y and 2.25's out under the rockers) i had to cut the shielding, i used a round 4" outer diameter magnaflow muffler which is prolly the largest you can go without issues and even then my ground clearance is a bit worse
