3400-95-modified was using them for awhile. You can see them at this thread: http://www.60degreev6.com/showthread.php?t=36268
You just need to make sure you use 3500 exhaust manifold gaskets with them.

Wow, my exhaust ran me $200. Add the mufflers and tips that I bought plus my 18" resonator to cut down on rasp... I'm at just under $500 all installed.

That included heating and bending the holy hell out of my the flexpipe piece that comes with the S&S headers, since for me it pointed to the drivers side and down to the road due to the fact that it's meant for an N-body.

Also included replacing my fuel filter, which apparently started to leak while they were welding

Man I spent alot on my exhaust compared to you guys. I bought my exhaust pipe from woolfaircraft.com That ran me about $440 ( 304 stainless steel, .065wall ) then $200 for the highflow cat, $45 for all the band clamps and hangers and gaskets, then $120 for the mufflers, and $70 for the resonator. Then $115 to have it welded up and put on.

I spent 421 on dual Borla 2 1/2 inch Turbo mufflers..and i'm looking at around 350 to change all the piping to 2 1/2 stainless..or around 700 if i decide to run true dual..

Yeah, I got two quotes in my area (i should maybe look around more). One of them was $1000, and the other was $800. But Honestly I'd rather spend the extra $200 to get quality work because the other shop was just dirty. That is full exhaust from the header back, with a highflow cat and performance muffler. Just a catback I think was about $400 or $500 I can't remember exactly.

I'm really leaning on the top swap with PEMs option right now (specifically the '05 3400 style), it will probably give me the best overall performance. Then I can cut the fake dual off my Z34 parts car and get the resonator removed and have a better downpipe made.

Think thats the way I should go?

Welding up the exhaust is pretty easy, any exhuast shop can do that. A Meineke is a good place to check.

It's the headers that are going to get you. I was supposed to put heads on my Alero, but the heads wouldn't work. I had the headers put on the same time, but the top end of the motor wasn't there. I would think that the only way to get the headers on are to go from the bottom, and even that's a tight squeeze

uhh, they should go on from the top??? just gotta be creative with how you do it, rear might have to be squeezed up from the bottom but im sure if you move the intake and dismount the brake booster and fuse box they should be able to squeeze in from there atleast?

                  My next question would be:

Would the fake dual exhaust have enough flow to not bother with replacing the piping on the exhaust? It is fake dual yes, but it also has two outlets instead of the one I have now, and should flow a bit faster than the single exit no? That would just save me money, I could just replace the cat and mufflers instead of all of it. That and I could probably weld up the parts myself and just get the shop to install it.

no... because no matter how many exits it has it still comes from that one little pipe, the stock piping is pretty restrictive at only about 2 inches on most of our cars, if that....

Well I'm pretty sure the stock exhaust on a monte/lumina is 2 1/4 inch, and if I was to get an exhaust it would be 2.5 inch. 1/4 of an inch difference really doesn't seem like much, especially paying to get a new system. Granted, the exhaust piping is crush bent.

I don't know a whole lot about exhaust though yet, but I'm learning. Although 1/4 inch doesn't seem like much, but I guess when you have a few feet of piping it adds up.

Pipe sizes usually refer to the internal diameter. At 2.25" externally your pipe is probably 1/8th" thinner internally. When it comes to the flow of gases in a pipe, a small increase in diameter can yield a large increase in flow capacity. Going from your stock, preassure-bent pipe to a mandrel-bent 2.5" setup with a performance muffler/high-flow cat could probably yield anywhere from 60-70% more flow.

Wow, never though it would have that big of a difference. Alright well I'm going to go in and see if any price have changed because of the higher dollar, after that I'll search around the city for other exhaust shops and get some quotes.

Ok, so I've been thinking about this quite a bit, deciding what I want to do. I've decided that i really want to do this properly and with the best performance. Therefore I want to get headers with the full exhaust from the down pipe back.

So, since I can't afford to get that all at once, I think I'm going to wait on the exhaust for now. So instead I'm going to start with the top end of the engine first by getting a full 3400 setup for my 3100 block. Which I will eventually get ported.

My next question would be. I want to get a better sound out of my engine, now I may be able to do that with the fake dual on the Z34, but thats hard to say. I was wondering, would a muffler change the sound of the exhaust? I ask because I probably could get a muffler and have it welded on, and then when I want to get the rest of the exhaust on I could transfer that over. The other option is to just get a catback done for now untill i can get the headers, but I don't know how much that would cost.

Yes, a muffler will change the sound of your exhaust. Why not just clamp the muffler on? You can take it off without cutting it when you put on the new poping, and you dont have to pay to get it welded on either.

doesn't anyone bother to read anymore? ive seen this posted so many times lately its nowhere near funny

the 2000 or newer 3400 top end is the same exact thing as the 2000+ 3100 top end except for the numbers on the UIM
