  • Comp Cams valve spring question

I have been comparing the Comp Cams 26915 to the 26918 springs. I see that the 26918 has a little larger O.D. at the bottom and is about 25 lbs. pounds heavier open and closed than the 26915. My cam is the 1161 grind from the 60*V6 store with 210/215 Dur. and 531/531 Lift. Which would be best and can I have your opinion as to why? Thanks.

the 26918's (as i was told by Ben) have too much open pressure for our lifters. I purchased a set for my build but exchanged them for the 26915's which were slightly lower.

the 26918 spring still won't fit over the stock gen3 spring seat, however the 26986 will (the ones Ben sells in the store)

Ben , do you think the 26986 spring that you sell would be good for my setup? I already have the 3500 spring seat/valve seals and if I used the 26915 springs i'd have to buy seals and LS1 seats, it would still cost about the same in the end. Let me know what you think.

I would use the 26986 springs for longevity. The less you stress a spring, the longer it holds its tension. They also drop right on, which I like a lot

Ben, I forgot to ask you about the retainers. Can I use the stock retainers and locks with the 26986 springs?

Sure thing, they drop right on as well.

Thanks Ben, I'll be ordering my springs this weekend. You and Dave have been a lot of help with my build and I do appreciate it. I guess we can close this thread now because my questions have been answered. Thanks again.
