pushrod length question

hey guys, im putting a 1995 3100 topend on my 1994 3.1 and i have had mixed answers, some saying i could use the stock pushrods some saying i couldnt.

when i checked with the stock pushrod with the lifter down the valve opened when i tightened the rocker arm down. and when i used the adjustable pushrod it was shorter then the stock pushrod, and yes i know theres 2 different size pushrods lol.

so the question is. do i have to get custom pushrods? and is there any way i could use the stock pushrods? like some kinda specal spacer for the rocker stud or something?

Was the lifter on the base of the cam lobe. You shouldn't need different length pushrods if you have the same flat tappet cam and lifters in the block as you had before.

^^ that's what i was thinking

the 95 3100 heads are basically the same as Gen2's up top, same pushrod guides and rockers.

yea the lifter was on the base of the cam. i dont understand why the stock 3.1 pushrods wont work? this is getting agervated!

From everything I've read you need custom. It's been posted the lengths before on here that different people measured/ran.

try it again on a different pair of valves.. and remember, the exhaust ones are longer

that's for the pedistal mounted roller rockers.. his are the same as gen2's

My rockers are ball & pivot. But not same as gen2. My rockers are not roller but are 1.6:1. The gen2 are not. Most 96 and up 3100's got the pedestal mount roller fulcrums. And AFAIK all 3100 use the same pushrods other than some being heat treated cause they run in guides.

well i tried putting my gen2 rockers on and checking, same result. the difference is about the length of the ball on the end of the pushrod. its just enough to open up the valve when the rocker arm is tightened down. all i can figure is i have to have coustom pushrods?

6.250" ex & 5.950" Intake is about the average used for hybrids.

www.pushrods.net just a little over $100 make sure you tell them that you'll be using guideplates.
