  • My cam specs and Q's about it

    Hi all

I have had my cam ground, and Have some concerns of course..

    I have a 95' grand prix with a 3100,3400 upper&lower intake and throttle body..

Here are the specs, this grind is from comp cams

Gross valve lift intake .427 exhaust .427

    duration @ .050 intake 210 exhaust 210

Lobe lift intake .2850 exhaust .2850

    Lobe separation 112.0

do these seem feasible for a OBD 1.5 computer? Will I defiantly need longer push rods, and do I need new valve springs?? The parts guy told me that the original springs would be ok,since the factory cam is so puny that, they really never got any wear..

I have a little concern that the thing isnt going to idle, although there is a adjustment screw for that if I am forced to use it.. Or is this grind going to be to big? If there is any more info I should have included let me know..

My transmission is also at the shop getting beefed up,Same guy rebuilt the one in my work van and got it shifting real nice and firm, and has found parts to make my 4t60e do the same,Cant wait to get it going, hopefully in a week and a half

One more thing, how does one determine preload on the lifters??

    Thanks
    Russ

Personally, I would 100% get LS6 springs for sure.

Other than that not too sure.

There is no adjustment screw. That is a throttle stop, not to be touched. Your grind is small and stock springs might work, though not ideal. I would go with a little stiffer springs. Basically, you just upped duration and lost lift for some reason. I personally wouldn't waste my time with that grind. You will probably need pushrods since it was reground. Preload is .020-.040 on the lifter.

What is the stock specs of the 3100 cam?? And if I lost lift that isnt good :/ Is more duration worth having with the loss of lift??

You're cam there is not a complete waste, it will give you a tad more power.
