Sorry, I had to do it!

I know some people were talking about trying it however no one would part with their 3500 squirters if they had them (had several people want mine when I posted pictures of my 3500 when I bought it). I don't think anyone ever thought of going to the dealer however (at least I never read about anyone going to get them).

I'm not 100% sure but I think the 3400 has a lower capacity oil pump than the LX9 and LZ9, adding the squinters might put to much strain on the system reducing is primary functions effectiveness.

Also the LX9 only has 3 squinters where as the LZ9 comes will all 6, correct?

hmm, wonder how hard it would be to add a couple more to a 3500?

i say be the first and teach us all

The oil pumps are different, the 3900 and VVT 3500 have a larger oil pump, the squirters are not functional until an unspecified pressure is reached presumably at higher rpm. Rather than install a high volume pump it might be better to increase the current pumps pressure a little considering the larger pump in the VVT motors may have just as much to do with the VVT which functions by bleeding off oil pressure to control cam positioning.

Since I've disabled VVT in my engine I suspect my oil pressure is a lot higher than what the gauge is registering considering the sensor is old and the gauge is not that steady. After a few high revs during tuning sessions I noticed white smoke coming from both turbos characteristic of oil burning off in the exhaust.

The pump has sort of an odd shape and might even function differently at higher rpms where a good bit of oil pressure is being bled off than at lower rpms where it is not.

With a good oil cooler a lot of heat can be removed from the pistons increasing piston strength considerably from some of the literature I have read, particularly under circumstances where holes can be burned in them.

The LX9 has only 2 squirters on pistons 5 and 6. Which seem to be the ones with the most slap. And yes the 3900 has 6 of them, I would assume the VVT 3500 would too, as I understand the 3500 VVT is a destroked 3900 without variable intake.

It is actually only 1 on the LX9 and 3 on the others, as the oil squirter is a 2 nozzle single unit. It is only piped from a single location with 2 outlets.

I'm just wanting the PN so I can order a couple more.

Yeah I meant nozzles. Didn't pay attention to anything else, just where it squirts oil out of.

ya you could do that i just put some shims behind the pin in the oil pump, a little more pressure on the relief spring. havent tried it yet though
