    I know this is a dead thread but I was wondering; Would this transmission be a good partner with a LX9? I know these 6 speed trans came with the 3.9 but if someone did a swap would it be worth it? I know there is more room for improvement with the 3500 than the 3.9.

      spec can build you a clut setup to work, u basically gotta use a 3.1 flywheel. i think theres one member swaping the 6 speed into there beretta here,

        Any capable shop can build you a clutch. The problem is bridging the gap between the F40 and typical 60 degree V6 flywheel. V8 Archie may sell the adaptor/spacer separately and I say maybe. If not you're looking at a good chunk of change for the complete outfit. The stock G6 clutch disc is more than sufficient so a custom Spec piece isn't necessary.

        If you're not looking for more than 300 lb/ft of torque the stock assembly is just fine. As for the remark about a sluggish responding 3900 V6, that was not my experience in a heavy Chevy Uplander (and certainly not with mine). Hwy acceleration was pretty impressive. When dealing with an electric throttle it is near impossible to know the full potential of an engine because the PCM decides how much abuse it's going to allow.

        Another reason to consider the stock G6 flywheel and clutch assembly is that there is a noise dampening effect designed into it. If you use a non dualmass flywheel you'll have to set your engine idle around 1000 rpm, if you don't the tranny gears will rattle and you'll hear it inside and outside of the car. I push my clutch in sometimes while idling to stop the noise.

        The input shaft is recessed in the bellhousing of the F40 by nearly an inch and that's why a spacer or custom flywheel is needed when not using the dualmass piece. My entire clutch and flywheel assembly is custom/modified for my application anticipating about 500 lb/ft of torque. The stock G6 clutch has a near 10" diameter and is a good piece as is. I had my pressure plate modified for more clamping force.
