Thats a bit excessive on the personal stuff don't you think? Yes, he told us he doesn't learn unless he does it. He asked the same question a few times and ignored everyone. I don't care what he thinks of the motor so long as he posts pictures of what he did to it. Now we know what happens when you run without a MAF. This belongs in the wiki.

how the hell did the valve end up in the piston like that. the thing did a 180 and stuck itself in the piston.

lesson learned dont let other people work on your car especially with stuff concerning superchargers.

you did ignore multiple people telling you in multiple topics to run a maf or else you trash the motor.

What part of mine blowing up without a MAF did you not get? I never like hearing of anyone blowing up but this was predicted months ago......good luck with the Yaris?

And if that valve is sticking into that piston.........someone staged it........ cause thats backward of a valve smash

Is the entire valve in that piston?!?

I can see no possible way for a valve to turn around and do that... unless somehow the valve got sucked in when the piston was down, somehow turned around then when the piston came back up it smashed through the piston.

But still... forged piston > valve. That valve should have twisted up, not gone through the damn thing.

I can't complain about my car.

must have 300+HP, and is pretty reliable. NEver had engine issues, it doesn't burn oil or anything.

I have a rather large intercoller, maybe that helps, and also tune with a 2 bar and OBD1.

Stock pistons, as well as other internals.

Makes me wonder if his mechanic really did install those $900 pistons

No that's not just you Ben, looks like somewhat of a lean burn issue wouldn't you say?

edit: I'm sorry to be a dick, but this guy is insulting every one of us here. He made 2 dozen posts asking about redundant shit, which he listened to none of - obvious by his piston choice... I can think of 1 company for sure that I bet got recommended that would've costed half as much that I'm sure he never looked at. Plus the entire MAF issue, how many threads and posts was that? Sorry, but I have no sympathy for ignorance, none at all.
its not a lean issue!!!!!!!!!!! how many times do I have to repeat myself, the tuning was proper.

that is funny, i made 60* history, It wasnt from running with no MAF.
Im guessing the timing chain skipped so bad it threw my valves st8 into my pistons.....My chain has like 1/2 inch of play in it, I could almost take it by hand

Did anyone else catch this contradiction?

Sorry this happened to you, but please stop saying that it was tuned properly. From what I can see, you are a 660/tuning newbie and you are fighting with people that have been doing this stuff for a very long time. Everyone on this site told you that you needed the MAF to get proper tuning, but you took it upon yourself to try to get it tuned without. Shame on whoever did the tuning to not have told you to come back when you put the MAF on. If I were you, I wouldn't go to them or your mechanic again.

even if it didnt blow up and you decided to continue to run without a maf you would have roasted the trans anyway from running without a maf.

unless rsm somehow magically found a way to make the trans run at normal pressure's with the maf unhooked.

i still fail to see how the valve got stuck in the piston like that especially a forged one.

Ok for the last time, hours and hours and dyno passes were done to ensure proper and reliable power from the engine. It was not lean, theres no detonation, it was vey functional in its state. Now duhh it would benefit from a MAF, I had already purchased and tried the stock MAF, too small. I was waiting to by my ls1 MAF. I took everyones advice and my own to quickly add the MAF. but with out it it was running just fine with out it. I was not waiting any longer to add the MAF, it was going on, but this happened, and it wasnt cause of no MAF. So to answer all you sharks out there,

READ CAREFULLY.. I had already had plans and in the process of adding a Ls1 MAF I did not ignore anyones advice, My engine was absalutely safe, my tuning and fuel ect. and I have dyno vid and sheets to prove it. Now my engine would of been better with the MAF..Yes, i know that, but it was running safely and with no problems other than the trans. unfortuneatley this happend, now I cant add it. But this did not happen due to no MAF.
On my other engines where I did not get a dyno tune, my engine internals looked terrinble, Excessive build up on the pistons, the engine just looke awful compared to this engine with the dyno time. And this engine had substantially more miles than my previous engines with no Dyno time. the difference was clear.

and how many times do you have to be told.

                              ...IT IS IMPOSSIBLE........DO YOU UNDERSTAND.............IMPOSSIBLE......

To PROPERLY TUNE WITHOUT A MAF AND ONLY USING A 1 BAR MAP With BOOST
