  • Injector retainers REALLY required? Lol

Ya know those stupid little C clip type retainers that hold the injectors to the fuel rail on the 3x00's? Are those REALLY required?

Reason I ask is my 42lb injectors dont have the grooves on the proper side for them, and rather then start cutting retainer grooves into my brand new injectors I'd rather just run without em. But obviously the last thing I want is an engine fire after spending a few grand on a short block.

So, what did everyone else who upgraded their injectors do? Figure out a way to use the retainers? Or just rely on the fuel rail bolts to hold the injectors in the rail?

    Thoughts are appreciated.

On my old DOHC injectors i just cut the groove all the way around for the clips to fit in. I'm not running clips on the new 36lb injectors though...

      And no issues so far?

I'd rather not mess with the new injectors if I dont have to. If they will be held tight enough by the fuel rail then that's plenty good enough for me.

I'll just be running the stock 55psi regulator so it's not like I'll be pushing 100 psi through the rail.

I forgot who it was either Scott or Mars who had issues with them leaking until they put the clips back on... This was with boost of course.

as long as they are pushed in all the way and bolted done tight you shouldnt have a problem..i was running my fuel pressure upperwards for 60psi under boost with no leaking problem
