Going back to the powder coating idea, does anyone here have a recommendation that is fairly cheap for the DIY? I was looking at this companies DYI powder coating system.

DIY powder coating doesn't work that well. It's not as durable as powder coating from a place with a good powder coating system. Trust me on this, I worked in a powder coating factory for a year. I'd send them out to a reputable place, meaning someplace that specializes in powder coating. I had my front suspension arms powder coated at the shop that made my custom radiator because they advertised that they did powder coating too. They are all chipped and rusty now.
