    ok..i knew the upper was metal but you had me wondering about the lower there for a min

      How much bigger are the ports on the heads from 3500 from the 3400... The 3400 LIM gaskets are huge on the heads... even though I dont think you could use 3400 gaskets on the 3500

        Here's a pic of a 3500 gasket on a 3400 head (I need to take one with 3400 gaskets on a 3500 head too)...

          hmm... now I gotta go look at mine... cause the gasket is bigger than the port, but I dont think its that tall though... I could be wrong. And I notice GM/Felpro keeps going back and forth between having the guide plates on the gaskets and not having them there.

            Felpro uses a little nub on the gasket that just lets you rest the pushrod on to hold it in place. The GM gaskets have the loop you see in the pic.

            That pic is a 3500 gasket on a 3400 head .

            Here is the 3500 gasket on a 3500 head...
