well im at a small shop on salary, so i dont get payed by book time. still i like to keep track of how many hours of work i did in an 8 hour day. typically, i can do 12 book hours of work in an 8 hour day, and i only get payed for 8 hours.

i do have a set and can say they are very good headers. i had them for over 2 years now and i can say they would never have rusted. they just got coated by jet hot to make them look nice in an all black engine bay. the only fitment issue i had was i ordered them for an auto and then did a 5-speed swap which needed the crossover pipe modified to go around the tranny's diff. CNCguy is right-you cant compare the prices for our parts when most of the time they are one-off custom parts that are in limited quantities. that being said, i believe i am the only one on this site with a set and im sure most of you have seen my pics.

Ginobeats on V6Z24 had a set.. after several tries JBP still couldn't make them fit right.. He finally went somewhere else and had a set custom made.

FastGT.. you appear to have gotten lucky. that's the first time i've heard that those headers actually fit.

what motor are these headers for? It doesn't really say? will they fit the 3900? and are they worth money if they do?

1000 would not be a bad price to pay they look nice and all but put your tax's and your shiping and your up to almost 1300 again !
and then ther eis that hole not fitting thing too i would not want to pay over 1000 for somthing that you have to be modified b4 useing it

they're for the 2.8, 3.1, 3100, 3400 and 3500 when swapped into a Jbody or Lbody (Cavalier, Sunbird or Beretta)

they won't work for the 3900.. the flanges are different.

okay...i just wanna keep my ears open in case anything worthwhile comes along for this motor...if i got my stock headers opened up..what kind of increase might I expect..and is it worth the time and money to put into it?

due to the style of the stock 3900 manifolds you may see as little as 3hp or as much as 20 but i would estimate between a 5 and 15hp increase, header flanges are in the store and you can get header kits for fairly cheap or go to your local muffler shop and ask if they'll sell you their bend rejects and f' ups for the price of scrap

Well I mean I'm not the most knoweledgeable person.. but that's what asking questions is for...to find answers. I mean come on..how many people have asked you the difference between a supercharger and turbocharger? And you're gonna tell them the difference right? well this is a more obscure part of the motor...that i'm not as familiar with..don't be sarcastic about something..thinking i should know what flanges are when i obviously don't. I'm on here to gain knowledge not have someone make me feel stupid. I do that enough on my own..don't need other people to do it for me.

Now..EL Diablo...please explain to me the purpose of header flanges..so that I might not look stupid again in the future..

The flanges are the base for the building of custom headers.........these are the 3900s from the store.........

I am surprised that no one has made up 3400/3500 flanges considering how many want headers on this for....myself included......hope this helps

                            Cheers
