Stock MAF is fine. It's not that big of an air restriction and it's not going to max out. Going to a larger will create lots of problems unless you can re-tune the PCM for the different value. Not worth it. Plugs are in the cylinder heads... The coils are between the firewall and intake on the backside... Wires go from coils to plugs hehe

I figured thats where they were. I used to change the plugs and wires on my old 3100. I sort of misworded my sentence making myself look like a dunce LOL

Are there high flow cats available for this motor?

under your engine cover... take it off and throw it out, it just traps heat and the sounds these engines make and who wants that

high flow cats are somewhat universal mostly with very few vehicle specific applications, i would suggest a magnaflow unit, shouldn't be more than $60-70 and should increase flow a bit

what else other than MSD universal wires would you suggest? and what spark plug manufacture would you recommend? And would magnaflow cats sound good and flow well with Borla mufflers? this motor has two cats i believe, one off of each header

Due to the style of the 3900 cats its not as easy as it used to be to swap out the cat, or "cats" in this place as there is one on each bank. In addition the stockers apparently flow really well.

MSD wires will make your engine look perdy however they're not going to net you any gains the stock ignition system is fine.

              wasn't aware of that

the stock wires are crap IMO, i had stock replacements literally fall apart on me after 10k miles, the msd's have less of a voltage drop and deffinetly smoothed out the idle, the wires were yet another cause of my missfire issue i had... and guess who made them....

Cool thanks Blackrider. I also sent VectorMotorSports an email about the PCM tune. Hopefully they send me back an email with good news. Does this new PCM tune void out my factory and extended warranty? cuz my car only has 23000 miles on it. I'm gonna guess that it won't since you have it on your car and yours is relatively brand new..or else you don't care about the warranty.

30,000KM on mine and they're still in perfect condition. MSD's wont hurt anything, however you wont gain much, you may see a better idle, I don't know i've yet to "Feel" them on a G6. lol

If they find out about it yes. However, the TECH II's cant tell the difference.

I had stock wires now I have some Bosch wires I think. They have held up but the coil ends on them are starting to rust a bit on 2 wires. I've had them for many years. And that is the only Bosch thing on my car. Plugs I run 100% AC Delco.

I'm gonna get MSD wires and AC Delco Platinum Rapid Fire plugs. and of course the intake since my mechanic has to disconnect the intake to replace it with the CAI, I might as well have them do the ignition as well. And when you say the Tech IIs can't tell the difference..does that mean that the PCM/ECM is virtually identical in appearance to the stock one? So unless I tell them I have an aftermarket computer they won't know the difference?

EDIT: Well I just got an email from Vector Motorsports and they say it will work perfect and that they have sold them to Malibu owners in the past. This makes me extremely happy. I'll have to talk to my speedshop guy and see about getting this done. I really can't wait.
