Believe it or not, when I did my 3500 swap by the time I got to putting the air hose on (the one with the IAT and MAF on it) I just wanted to get things done, so I dropped a K&N dropin in the stock airbox, used the stock hose and everything (which bairly goes onto the 65mm TB, took force) and just left it.
Now I know that this has to be hurting it. I am not a fan of warm air intakes, and I rather not chop my fenderwell to put a filter in there. I am hoping to just cut out a hole in the bottom of the airbox, and run some type of hose lower in the engine bay so it can suck more cool air along with the little funnel that is in the airbox stock without much risk of sucking water as well.
Good idea? Any good ideas for attaching the hose to the bottom of the airbox? What about some sort of heat resistant flexy hose for me to run down there? I've looked at drier vent hose but it just has ghetto written all over it...
What about the rest of it? I don't really want to modify the MAF... just keep the stock MAF? Should I even bother getting some curved metal pieces and replacing the stock flexy hose? What about the rubber bungs for the IAT?
Also wtf is the big black round thing that hangs off the intake hose for? It's hard to explain, but it was on my coupe but it's not on my sedan... (both 96 3100 GP's).
