  • To Cam or not to Cam....

'99 3400... ported heads, 3000 stall converter going into a '97 Lumina.. How much will I hate myself for not putting a cam in it now while it's apart? What's a good max power cam for me? The eventual home will be in a J-body with the 4T60E, so I'm not afraid of anything too hairy...
'97 Chevy Lumina, '99 LA1, ported heads, manifolds, 2 1/2" exhaust, k&n filter, 180* stat, A/C delete, Ram air, 3600 FAFB converter, 4T60E shift kit, DHP Power Tuner, AEM UEGO, MegaSquirt II/Extra

    1/8 mile 9.72@75 mph, 2.0 60 foot

You will hate yourself. If I could of put a cam in mine easily when I changed the timing cover and chain I would have. The sound is just too intoxicating and the performance is welcome.

As long as you can tune for it you can go pretty hairy but mileage and driveabilty can go down. Swapping in a 4t60-e in a jbody? Will that fit??!? What will you control it all with?

The pcm/harness from the Lumina.. It's my beater. From what I read Grand am axles make it fit nice. I guess I need to update my sig.. I have a Power Tuner. Being work is 8 miles from my house, mileage isn't a concern. Got a grind recommendation?

Check out the grinds in the store, there are a bunch of simulations with different setups. ie. 3500 top end, ported top end, higher comp. ratio etc..

                  lmao.. naaa

just harder to tune the bigger they get. Plus with an auto tranny you may run into issues with having the idle set higher. mines at 1200 cold and 1150 warm. Any lower and it stalls at stoplights.
