I also had some valvtrain noise when my engine was done, it eventually went away slowly, IDK why but its happened both times my engines have een rebuilt. If its running correctly, and making a slight engine noise rom valve train I wouldnt worry about it, but if it doesn go away after a few thousand miles on the engine, you shoud try trouble shooting. It took about 3 K for my valve train to stop making noise. Maybe it needs to wear in agin, Im not sure.

[QUOTE=PCGUY112887;340135]but cyl #6 seems to be missing much much more than anything else?
[QUOTE]
you have no idea how funny this is to me..I had the same exact problem at first but mine was BAD..i had serious misfiring problems on 6..later found out there was no compression from the exhaust valve not closing all the way and had to tear it all back apart
i doubt you have the same problem I just find it really funny that we both have misfires on cyl 6 and we have the same cams
Hopefully Chris88CL doesnt have the same problem since I know he has the same cam as well

ive got the same noise on the rear (cyl 246 side) of my fiero. im using iron heads with the crane 99846 springs. these springs have a ton of seat pressure and about 430lbs of open pressure. im going to check my lash sometime this week, but i feel the noise is related to the geometry of the rockers and the height of the springs.3500, 1280 cam and PR, ls6 valve springs, port and polished heads, ported lim, ported uim, 4.3 70mm tb, ported trueleo headers and y pipe ALL FOR SALE (minus the car)

FE3 badge I got online from a bulk pack of badges from a Cutlass... My suspension is way above FE3 though.
And most of that "suction" style noise you hear when I rev it is actually the sound of the P/S pump... F-ing noisy isn't it...Last edited by 3400-95-Modified; 10-02-2007, 12:38 PM.

Not too bad. I can say my engine has similar noises, but maybe a tad less severe. I have around 40k on the engine since the cam/springs install.Brian

Here is my video. Cold start after battery being disconnected. The video shows how the poly motor insert eliminates engine movement so that's why I'm revving it. I do need to get a new dogbone though mine has 200k on it and does have some play when coasting around 30mph and then you tap the gas you feel it thud.
My pump makes some noise, but you only hear it with the engine bay open. Mainly you can hear it when the motor bogs down too much in the video. I had just reconnected the battery and the car had not done an idle re-learn.
Maybe your pump pulley has a crack in it? Mine did 2 years ago and was making this loud supercharger sound!!

Pump and pump pulley are both from the 05, plus its more like a pump grinding noise... definately not from a cracked pulley.Last edited by 3400-95-Modified; 10-03-2007, 03:51 PM.

I can't remember if it's when I put on the 56mm TB on the 3100 stuff that that started happening or if it was after the battery was disconnected. It may be turbulence from miss-match TB to plenum neck, or the computer just hasn't adjusted yet. I can't remember if the hesitation is better now after a few days or not. I'll check it today. It did that even on the 3100 manifolds IIRC, but not all the time.
After the intake swap I no longer have the explosive pull at 3,000RPM. In fact the engine feels slower overall. I'm guessing/hoping it's just evened out the peaky powerband, and is just restricted by the stock exhaust. Like perhaps it moved the peak above 3,000 rpm, but you no longer feel when it kicks in because the exhaust chokes it out... The car is faster by watching the speedometer, but not by much and doesn't have the big jump at 3k like I said so you don't feel it as being that fast.
I'm hoping 2.5" manifold back and a larger TB will help it make the power it should be. I did loose some low end torq, I can't chirp the tires at 20mph anymore, but off of idle I can make em spin. I'm assuming the power band is just higher but the exhaust can't support the flow at those RPMs so you don't feel it...
What do I need to tell an exhaust shop so they make a fresh downpipe? Will they have the flange needed?sigpic New 2010 project (click image)
