I know someone who might be willing to part with a 3500 short block, and is located in IL.

I'm not ready to part with mine just yet...

Yeah, but for $100? Like I said, I would have gotten two for that price.

Actually once the 34./3500 is done, I'll be wanting more, but a tubular k-member is stopping me from doing a full 3x00 swap.

Maybe in a year or so the 3900's will be more readily available HEHEHE.

Well, considering I think I sold it to him for about that price (I got 2 3500 short blocks and a toasted 4.3L for $250), he might let it go for that. Again, its not comparable to the $100 for the complete engine, but...

ya its a smokin deal, i new it was marked wrong, so i snagged it, i also got a pair of 3400 heads, the big stud ones thrown in there. so i tore it right down tonight to find the #6 piston seized, and the #2,3,4 main bearings spun, so ill get it bored, and a new set of pistons, what are my choices? and where can i get em. i like that they are teflon coated, also get the crank reground, are they balanced quite well from the factory?

GM PArts Direct sells pistons for the 3x00 engines. I recently looked up 3100 and 3400 pistons and they are going for $300/set new, delivered. I would start there.

You must remember that the 60V6 engine is not considered a performance engine. So the majority of the stuff you will find for these engines will either be stock replacements or custom pieces. With the exception of companies like MRZ, Milzy and of course, the 60V6 Store, all aftermarket for these engines stopped when the 3100 was released in 1993.

Forgings are going to cost double that, it's up to you.

Actually check out one of my threads in the B/S/T section from a couple of months ago when I was looking for some 3400 pistons. Someone offered me 3500 pistons...

                        Update time:
so i did a little cleaning and porting on the intakes and heads, going to media blast the intakes and prob powder coat them aswell. here is my dilema, where can i get gaskets, rings, bearings, oil pump, and possibly one oversized piston(cough, cough) i know it sounds bad. I am going to go with either 2 ihi turbos from a mx6 or possibly 2 from a dodge 2.2. your input would be greatly appreciated..

The stock ECM will not deal with the 2 BAR sensor unless you find a 1985 ECM, AFAIK.

If I were you I'd just get a 3400 engine and swap the heads and intakes over. $100 is still a steal for those parts. You'd be missing the 5,6 piston oil squirters and your compression would be a bit lower though. Then you don't have to deal with the 7x external crank sensor setup... Plus 3400's are more plentiful so if you break stuff it's more common to get parts.
