HI WONDERING IF ANYONE CAN HELP I HAVE A 98 LUMINA 3.1 THAT WE ARE USING FOR A CIRCLE TRACK CAR IN A SPECTATOR RACE WE PURCHACED A CAM & LIFTERS FROM SUMMIT RACING THEY RECOMENDED A FLAT TAPPET CAM PART# 16-233-4 the problem is the push rods are to short & stock timing set wont work on this cam 1 guy told me to use 2.8 ho push rods is this right
& also any info on getting more hp

Summit are cheap, but stupid. They don't know your motor is a roller cam and is not going to like your flat tappet cam. You need a roller cam to drop in there. I have regrinds on the store here but if your race is soon you are probably better off with your stock cam for now. The pushrods are longer on the flat tappet cams.

Yes, you have the small port manifolds now. You can swap 3400 heads for a little better casting and larger intake valve. The upper and lower intakes from the 96-99 montana will bolt right on.

Anything between 2000 and 2005

03+ may have something slightly different with the lower intake since there are ones casted as 00 and ones casted as 03, and I have noticed the 03+ motors to put out a little more when used in 3100 to 3400 swaps.

The 03+ heads use an 8mm rocker stud, which are weaker.

You will have to modify a set of S%S headers for the 3400 grand am. The front header may bolt right on but the rear needs to be modified for the firewall and downpipe. Cam depends on powerband and what modifications you are going to do. Valve springs are going to be necessary.

The 3500 exhaust manifold gaskets (LX9) are wider ports but the same bolt pattern and port spacing. 3100 and 3400 are identical.
