Thinner Head Gasket

Lats Aug I had Colin, do my heads and all that fun suff, they where milled .020 I was wondering is I might be able to go with a bit thinner of a head gaket for some more compression, I know .020 is probably as far as the heads should be milled but could i go with a bit thinner headgaket if so how thin.

unfortunatly jordie you cant go much thinner, the only "off the shelf" items are the stock aluminum head gaskets which are a compressed 0.060 thickness

and the Iron headed engine compressed thickness of .040inch. which with the 3X00 engines the pistons sit above the deck .020inch, which with the stock head gasket leaves .040 inch between the piston and the head,

during higher RPM the rods will actually stretch on the crank and move an extra .030+- due to stress and stretch, which then leaves you only about .010 thou between the head/piston.

so unless you wanted custom copper gaskets or something with a thickness of like .050 or .055 inch, which wouldnt get much for the $$ and effort.

there isnt any other option besides new pistons.
