  • 94-95 F-body 3.4 guys: what do you use for tuning?

Anyone who has built their 94-95 3.4 F-body, what have you done to tune your engine?
I did an engine swap with this ECU, and I found out that HPT does not work with these. Is there something else that you guys are using, or are you converting to another ECU?

they are the dreaded obd 1.5. basicly, there is nothing avalible to tune this ecm, the poular thing is an ecm swap. either go obd2 and use hpt or swap to obd1 and burn chips.

I will be using a 95 3.4 block in my car and will be tuning with MegaSquirt. If you would like, i can give you a good deal on my old 7730 MAP ECM (OBD1).

For less than $200 for equipment, you can wire and be tuning yourself. If you are up for a challenge, though, you can buy a MegaSquirt1 kit for about $150 (DIYAutotune is having a sale for $134), and build/install it. Fully built units are $240. If you don't want to deal with modifying a PWM idle control (and use your current IAC), then a MesaSquirt2 can be had for $247 for a kit and a built unit for $410. It all depends on what you want to do with your set-up.

Since my new motor is going to be a 3.4 with 3500 heads, and boost, MegaSquirt is the way to go, for programmability, user-friendliness, there is great support, and code sharing.

Yeah, it looks like I'll end up going with the MS or MS2 down the road. For right now I'm sticking with my setup, as I haven't modified this engine at all, but I'm planning on building a boost motor in the future, so I was wondering if there was anything available to keep the ECM I have.
        Thanks for the help.
BTW, those prices on the MS systems, are they just the ECM and you have to buy the wiring kit? That seems stupidly cheap for stand alone. I knew they weren't nearly as much as the Electromotive stuff, but that's a huge difference.

Out of curiosity, from those who might have experience with both, which one is better overall, the ODB II programmed with HPT, or the MSII setup? I'm not worried about difficulty, I'll tackle anything, but I'm looking for the end result.
