      Stepped exhaust pictures

The easiest way to build exhausts is to build stepped tube exhausts. This type exhaust also gives more power. Three steps is common. For street two or three steps work. 1 5/8, 1 3/4, (1 7/8 ?) For racing 1 3/4, 1 7/8, 2 inch. Use .065 exhaust bends from Jegs, Summit, JC Whitney. Between them there are many types and radii. For the most part one size tube will slide over the next smaller tube. A hand tube expander from Harbor Frieght can be used if there is a fitup problem. For street you want each section to be 11 to 12 inches and for racing 9 inches net after a 1/2 to 1 inch overlap. Because these are built like an erector set, very complex shapes can be made. The overlap joints are also easier to weld. One picture shows a splice of same size tubing using the next size up. Slipon colectors from Edlebrock were used and band clamps for disassembly.

I don't even think 3" can fit around the Addco swaybar unless the pipe was run in an odd fashion to clear it... part of my decision to go with 2.5".

I have the Aerochamber mufflers here and my tips, it looks hott!

As soon as you get it installed, post up a good video on photobucket so we can see/hear it. I'm really interested in hearing how they sound on the GM 60v6 vs my Taurus dohc 3.0L v6 did. I absolutely hated the way they sounded on that car when I pulled the resonator. Total rasp. It wasn't so bad w/the resonator on. It rasped a bit until it warmed up and then it went away. But it was damn near stock quiet inside and very mild outside, even under WOT. When I put the 4x9x14 Magnaflows on w/out the resonator, the rasp was back to where it was stock and it was just a touch louder inside and really sporty sounding on the outside. I miss that damn car!! lol

I have a few vids on putfile of mine.. i keep forgetting to upload the rest. I'm planning on putting an Aerochamber crossflow on my '04 GAGT now as well... Probably end up taking out the resonator, installing a hi-flow cat and mod the downpipe flange to take out the restrictor..
